An environmental education initiative between Kent State at Stark and the H.W. Hoover Foundation

Contests

OurWaterWebs.org, under the umbrella of the H.W. Hoover Initiative in Environmental Media, attempts to draw attention to our project while encouraging student participation in educating the public on the value of water by hosting various contests. By providing additional creative outlets we gain a wider range of audience, participants, and networking vital to the water web.

To this endeavor, we have hosted photo contests in which students of KSU Stark were encouraged to enter high quality photos of water.  In the Fall of 2010 contest there were four categories under the main theme of Trees: Trees & Water, Beauty, Drama, and Environmental Issues. In the Fall of 2011 contest we had two categories under the main theme of Water: “Beauty” and “Challenges & Solutions”.

As we grow and move forth, plans are currently in place for a new contest – “Water Matters” – a collaborative effort between the initiative and the KSU Stark Fine Arts Department. This PSA style video contest will be open to all people who reside in, work in, play in, or go to school in Stark County. More to come on this exciting project shortly!
